Optimat Blades

Introduction

OPTIMAT was probably the first integrated European research project focussing on wind turbine rotor blade fatigue. Many fatigue research institutes in Europe participated actively in the test programme, and the main manufacturers and certification bodies also played an important role. WMC co-ordinated this project and performed a large part of the experimental and analysis work. The OPTIMAT project was finished in 2006, most of the project reports and the wind turbine rotor blade composite test database OptiDAT can be found below.
